Welcome to FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL)! Here you will find everything you need to know about FIRST®, and FIRST® LEGO® League in the Central Texas area, including what we do, how you can get involved, and how you can be successful in the programs. Please refer to the FAQ section to help get you started.
The STEM Council at Skillpoint Alliance manages FIRST® LEGO® League, along with Junior FIRST® LEGO® League, and FIRST® Tech Challenge programs in the Central Texas area. We act as the Central Texas FLL Operational Partner for US FIRST®, and as the Central Texas Qualifying Tournament Partner for FIRST® Tech Challenge.
FIRST® LEGO® League, or FLL, introduces 9-14 year old students to real-world engineering challenges by building LEGO-based robots to complete tasks on a thematic playing surface. FLL teams, guided by their imaginations and adult coaches, discover exciting career possibilities and, through the process, learn to make positive contributions to society.
Elementary and middle-school students get to:
- Design, build, test and program robots using LEGO® MINDSTORMS® technology
- Apply real-world math and science concepts
- Research challenges facing today’s scientists
- Learn critical thinking, team-building and presentation skills
- Participate in tournaments and celebrations
What FLL teams accomplish is nothing short of amazing. It’s fun. It’s exciting. And the skills they learn will last a lifetime.
FLL Core Values
The FLL Core Values are the cornerstones of the FLL program. They are among the fundamental elements that distinguish FLL from other programs of its kind. By embracing the Core Values, participants learn that friendly competition and mutual gain are not separate goals, and that helping one another is the foundation of teamwork.
We ask everyone affiliated with FLL honor these values.
- We are a team.
- We do the work to find solutions with guidance from our coaches and mentors.
- We know our coaches and mentors don’t have all the answers; we learn together.
- We honor the spirit of friendly competition.
- What we discover is more important than what we win.
- We share our experiences with others.
- We display Gracious Professionalism® and Coopertition® in everything we do.
- We have FUN!
